$70-$100.00 AN ACRE IS spent on seed corn. 87 million acres of corn. Pretty good profit locked in wouldnt you say. Lets all go back to conventional corn and get the price down. Have a friend as a hired man puts in roughly 2200 hours a year. This works out to 52 weeks at 40 plus hours in more like seven to eight full months. Dont really know where you come up with three months. Get real. Just remember were not farming in the 70s or 80s anymore if we grow national average yield we just want to make average return on investment like anybody else. This isnt going to happen at these prices. Thank you.
Upper midwest corn price @2.85 right now, your Illinois and Indiana prices are usually 50-60cents higher this adds up to a lot of gained income over years also. Lets just drop the farm program from these areas that get unfair basis prices. This is why your land is so outrageous than they get to gamble in their backdoor at cbot and make more money on production. In my area land taxes pretty much pay for all public school expenses. Our biggest problem in this country is 98.9 percent of people dont farm in this country and they have a negative attitude. Your right inputs more than doubled and prices doubled. Just remember a lot of people own hotel chains, land, etc. We all sometimes get handed down a little change. Just some thoughts.
Four years ago you were selling 1.70 corn and getting a ldp. corn price doubles inputs doubles the land you own doubles in price your net worth doubles not a bad deal.If you own 200 acres of Ia or IL farm ground you are pretty close to being a millonire.
