Harvesting was supposed to begin in the N/NE farm areas this weekend, but too much rains over all region delayed work again. The climate is very warm and moisture excess is causing rumors of losses in the local market. Some says about 5% down if situation keeps more 10 days.
Happily (for us), whilst the rest of the country are not getting all they require weather-wise, here in Rio Grande do Sul, where early season forecasts were scary, anticipating drought, after a few hiccups the weather is now close to perfect and all we hear is of an expanding crop. Could still use another couple of rains before harvest but overall things are looking good.
