Final Vedict: The United States of Europe
Ran out of points in chapter 2...
This book filled a badly needed gap, I'm afraid. While the author had a good point or two, he had precious little data and a real axe to grind about the US. To be sure, Americans should work to understand the EU better - it will make their lives better and make businesses some cash, but this shallow examination of the differences between us won't help much. Reid obviously likes the idea of a strong, united Europe to challenge the US. And it may well come to pass. But in the time the book took to publish most of his anecdotal assertions have wandered off course. I dunno - this book just didn't have much to say.
