Generally, no. The system looks for a Grid signal to synchronize with, without that signal it will not produce power. However, if you have battery backup or a clean sine wave generator the battery or generator will act like the grid to produce the signal. IMPORTANT NOTE: The system must disconnect from the grid completely when this happens to prevent “Islanding.”
