$200 Double Your Money Winner!

Robert and his brother farm corn and soybeans together at County Line Farms, LLC. Robert enjoys repairing equipment and creating new gadgets in his shop, but he didn’t want to tie up his truck all season just to haul tools. Instead, he built a removable tool frame with scrap materials and the heavy duty drawer slides he purchased for $250.

A Temporary Service Truck

FJ 100 Ideas Robert Adams

For farm repairs away from the shop, I designed and built a frame for the back of my pickup to hold my tools, a generator, a compressor and a double hose reel with air hose and extension cord. The main box is rated to 500 lb. and is installed on drawer slides to make it more accessible. What makes this frame different is that it is designed to be used only when needed, we can take it in and out with a fork lift if we need to haul something else in the bed.

Chalkboard on a Mixer Wagon

FJ 100 Ideas Rick Schramm

When loading the mixer wagon, I could never find the feed ration list for reference. I decided to paint a black board on the side of the mixer wagon and write the rations in chalk. Now I can see the ration as well as the scales when loading the different feed and can change rations by just erasing and writing the new ones. Best of all, it cost me less than $10!

Yep, the Gate is Closed

FJ 100 Ideas Charles Robertson

I worried that deer hunters or I would leave a gate open at the end of the day, so I made it a habit to double check each gate. I got tired of having to drive up to each gate, so I painted one side or section with paint. I usually use white paint because it is visible from a distance. Now if the gate is closed, I can see it up to a quarter mile away.
