2011 Class of Pickups

March 12, 2011 12:28 PM

New truck packages, cosmetic upgrades and bigger engines were some of the new pickup features on display at the 2011 Chicago Auto Show.

Renewed excitement has improved the mood in the automobile industry from the past several years.

Fred Diaz, Ram Truck CEO, says this will be the year of the truck for his company. During the past few years, farmers and businessmen have not been able to buy new trucks because of the recession. "There’s a lot of pent-up demand out there. Guys need new trucks," he says.

This year, new models target owners’ specific needs. Brian Goebel, Chevrolet spokesman, says buyers are split—half want a truck for recreational use, the other half need it for work. "We built a truck that does well for either of those folks."
