Arrest for Scouring Animals Now Available with Microbials

February 22, 2010

CARPENTERSVILLE, Ill. — Milk Specialties Global Animal Nutrition (MSGAN) is pleased to announce that Advance Arrest nonmedicated energy supplement is now available with ProVance Microbials. The new unique natural formula provides rapidly available energy, essential electrolytes and fluids, plus fast-acting microorganisms to help overcome upset and unbalanced digestive tracts and enhance an animal's immune system.

For scouring calves, pigs, foals, lambs, kids, llamas, alpacas and other animals, Arrest features a specialized gelling action that slows fluid passage, increases nutrient absorption and helps hold insoluble fiber in suspension. "We are very excited about the new Arrest formula,” says Lee Scoville, MSGAN director of consumer products. "By combining a highly palatable, nonmedicated energy and electrolyte supplement with a source of live naturally occurring microorganisms, we provide animal owners with the most effective and natural product for scouring animals.”

Originally developed through a research program with the University of Illinois, Arrest can benefit animals in different scenarios. "Using a calf as an example,” Scoville says, "Arrest helps scouring and recovering calves by slowing nutrient passage, providing energy, rapidly restoring lost fluids, promoting feed intake, helping stop scours—and relieving upset and unbalanced digestive tracts. Along with scouring calves, producers also should feed Arrest to calves coming off the trailer, during disease therapy or to any calf showing signs of stress.”

In addition, MSGAN announces a new look for Arrest packaging. Now available in a 12-lb. bag, Arrest comes in a "greener” and more convenient package. Upgrading from the old 10-lb. pail, the new bag contains 12 lb. of Arrest and features a heavy-duty zipper for an airtight seal. "This nylon bag is easier to recycle, plus animal owners will get 20% more product at the same price as the old pail,” Scoville says. "These upgrades help save money—and the environment.”
