 Planter Monitor Adds GPS Mapping
Thanks to a software upgrade, Precision Planting's 20/20 SeedSense monitor is available with GPS Mapping Support Tools. A partnership with MapShots Inc. provides the Windows driver and a free GPS Mapping Viewer. Users can import, export and view data gathered by the 20/20 SeedSense with GPS mapping. The 20/20 SeedSense gathers planter performance data, which includes:

  • population
  • singulation
  • seed spacing
  • down pressure
  • ground contact
  • smooth ride
  • planting speed
  • hex shaft factor
  • loss per acre
  • vacuum settings

MapShots EASi Suite and Farm Works Software support this monitor's driver, and AgLeader SMS will support the driver in the future. The available software can be downloaded from Precision Planting's Web site. For more information, contact Precision Planting, 23207 Townline Road, Tremont, IL 61568; (309) 925-5050; www.precisionplanting.com.

Data from the Field
Farm Works Software provides wireless data transfer from the field and the office with Site Pro Dispatch. Instead of swapping memory cards or returning to the office for the next field map, data can be sent to a machine and back to the office and vice versa. From the field, data is retrieved via the wireless connection in seconds and can be processed for records, inventory control and billing. The software can be integrated with Google Earth to provide overlay of aerial photos with machine locations. For more information, visit Farm Works Software, P.O. Box 250, Hamilton, IN 46742; (800) 225-2848; www.farmworks.com.

Fully Outfitted Sprayer Station
To compliment its WatchDog sprayer station, Spectrum Technologies Inc. offers an aftermarket display unit. The console connects to the WatchDog station to provide an
in-cab computer system for those sprayer rigs without a monitoring device. Users can view and log wind speed and direction, air temperature, humidity, dew point, wind chill and barometric pressure. Once captured on-the-go, the data can be downloaded to a computer with the included Console Sync software. The sprayer station is fully waterproof, chemical-resistant and able to withstand adverse conditions with a compact, UV-stabilized housing. Ultrasonic transducers replace previously used wind vane and cups to increase reliability through decreasing moving parts. For more information, visit Spectrum Technologies Inc., 12360 South Industrial Dr. East, Plainfield, IL 60585; (800) 248-8873; www.specmeters.com.
