POTASH PRICES:
GOOD MORNING, I'M TYNE MORGAN. CLINTON GRIFFITHS IS ON ASSIGNMENT. AS SOME POTASH SUPPLIERS STRUGGLE TO TURN PROFITS, INPUT USERS MAY NOT SEE CHEAPER PRICES AS EXPECTED. AND THAT'S OUR TOP STORY ON AGDAY.
CROP PROGRESS:
AFTER A VERY WET JUNE, THE RAIN SPIGOTS TURNED OFF IN JULY FOR MUCH OF THE CORNBELT.

WX:
WELCOME BACK TO AGDAY. WELL MIKE, THE DROUGHT MONITOR IS COMING OUT LATER THIS WEEK, LAST WEEK WE SAW SOME DRY POCKETS REALLY SHOW UP IN PARTS OF CORNBELT, ANY RELIEF IN SIGHT REMAINDER OF THIS WEEK? WELL, FOR POCKETS, AGAIN. I THINK THAT'S THE KEY WORD IT'S NOT GOING TO BE A WIDSEPREAD RAIN BUT THERE ARE DECENT RAINS GOING TO OCCUR OVER NEXT 48 HOURS ACROSS MANY PARTS OF CORN BELT. WE HAVE TWO AREAS OF LOW PRESSURE THAT ARE GOING TO AFFECT US. ONE IS IN NORTHERN PORTION OF MISSISSIPPI VALLEY AND THE OTHER IS IN NORTHEAST COLORADO AND THAT IS ALL GOING TO BE MOVING EASTWARD. AND SO THAT IS GOING TO BE PRODUCING A LOT OF RAIN. LOOK AT THE EAST COAST. THAT'S HURRICANE BERTHA. THAT'S NOT GOING TO BE A MAJOR WEATHER PRODUCER BECAUSE IT'S GOING TO HEAD NORTH, NORTHEASTWARD OUT TO SEE. SO WE CAN JUST KIND OF ALMOST FORGET ABOUT IT. IT MIGHT CAUSE A FEW WAVES, BUT THAT'S ABOUT IT. JUST REMEMBER IT'S OUT THERE. BUT IT'S MOVING NORTHEAST AND ITS WEAKENING. SO THE FIRST AREA OF LOW PRESSURE MOVING IN TO THE ILLINOIS INDIANA AREAS BY LATER ON TODAY. AND THAT WILL BE AN AREA FOR SOME SHOWERS AND STORMS TO DEVELOP WITH THAT, AND SOME DECENT MOISTURE WITH THE SECOND ONE... THE THIRD ONE IS JUST SITTING THERE OVER WESTERN MONTANA AND NORTHERN IDAHO. IT WILL CONTINUE TO PRODUCE SOME MAINLY AFTERNOON SHOWERS AND STORMS. ALTHOUGH YOU CAN SEE OUR MODEL SHOWING A LITTLE BIT IN THE MORNING THERE. THIS COULD BE A DECENT AREA OF SHOWERS AND STORMS FOR PARTS OF THE NORTH CENTRAL PLAINS, ALL DEPENDS ON WHERE THAT DEVELOPS AHEAD OF FRONTAL S SYSTEM ITSELF, BUT THAT TYPICALLY HAPPENS AT NIGHT INTO EARLY MORNING, AD THEN THAT AREA SHOULD WEAKEN AND SHOWERS AND STORMS WILL INTENSIFY CLOSER TO FRONT AS WE HEAD THROUGH AFTERNOON.L AND THAT'S GOING TO BE THE CASE AS THESE TWO SYSTEMS MOVE FROM WEST TO EAST. NOT EVERYONE IS GOING TO GET A GOOD RAIN, BUT SOME WILL. THIS AREA OF LOW PRESSURE CONTINUING TO PRODUCE AFTERNOON STORMS IN SOUTHWEST... PRECIP ESTIMATES OVER PAST 24 HOURS, YOU CAN SEE AREAS IN THE EST, NOTHING WIDSPREAD OR HEAVY, BUT SOME AREAS GETTING SOME DECENT RAINS AND YOU CAN SEE THE POCKETS OF MOISTURE ACROSS MIDWEST. LOTS IN SOUTHERN FLORIDA AS WELL... ADDING ON NEXT 36 HOURS YOU CAN SEE HOW COMPUTER MODEL KIND OF TRACKS EVERYTHING OFF TOWARDS SOUTHEAST, ACROSS THE AREA FROM IOWA ACROSS ILLINOIS INDIANA AND OHIO INTO THE MIDDLE PORTIONS OF THE APPALACHIANS. THERE'S THE COOLER THE NORMAL WEATHER, ONCE AGAIN, SETTLING INTO THE GREAT LAKES. BEHIND THE FRONTAL SYSTEM...VERY HOT HUMID CONDITIONS FROM KANSAS SOUTHWARD. LOW TEMPS TONIGHT GOING TO GET VERY PLEASANT... ALMOST ON TEHCOOL SIDE AGAIN GREAT LAKES INTO NORTHEAST STILL VERY MUGGY THOUGH FROM KANSAS CITY SOUTHWARD, AND THAT HEAT REMAINS IN THOSE AREAS AS WELL WITH THOSE COOLER TEMPS IN THE NORTH. HERE'S THE JET STREAM YOU CAN SEE A TROPH, NOT AS STRONG AS WE'VE HAD RECENTLY, BUT NONETHELESS IT’S KEEPING THINGS ON THECOOOL SIDE. THAT MOVES EAST, A LITTLE RIDGE COMES IN AS WE HEAD INTO EARLY NEXT. ANOTHER TROPH DIVING IN IT’S LOOKS LEK INTO GREAT LAKES. THIS CLOUD IS STRONGER THAN OUR MODEL IS SHOWING BUT WE'LL HAVE TO WATCH AS WE HEAD INTO NEXT WEEK. THAT'S A LOOK ACROSS THE COUNTRY. NOW LET'S TAKE A LOOK AT SOME LOCAL FORECASTS. FIRST WE'LL HEAD TO SHELBY MONTANA, WARM WITH SUN AND CLOUDS HIGH UP TO 86. VICTORIA TEXAS, PARTLY SUNNY, HOT AND HUMID HIGH AROUND 94 AND EASTON, PENNSYLVANIA, VARIABLY CLOUDY A SPOTTY SHOWER OR STORM HIGH OF 87...
TEASE:
CLINTON…STILL TO COME - HOW MUCH SUGAR IS IN THE PACKAGED FOOD YOU EAT? THE GOVERNMENT IS TALKING ABOUT ANOTHER FOOD LABEL.
ITC AGRITOURISM:
CLINTON…AGRITOURISM HAS SEEN A SHARP INCREASE IN POPULARITY ACROSS THE U.S. AS VACATIONERS ARE EAGER TO  LEARN ABOUT THE ORIGINS OF THEIR FOOD AND DRINK. ROBERT BUMSTED TAKES US TO A DISTILLERY AND FARM IN WEST VIRGINIA TO SEE HOW THE TOURIST "CROP" IS DOING THIS SUMMER.
ADDED SUGAR:
IN FOOD AND YOUR FAMILY, IT'S A BATTLE OVER SUGAR IN OUR FOODS, AND IT'S TAKING CENTER STAGE IN WASHINGTON THIS WEEK. THE ARGUMENT ISN'T OVER HOW MUCH SUGAR SHOULD BE IN FOODS HERE IN THE U-S, BUT HOW AWARE CONSUMERS SHOULD BE ABOUT THE SUGAR THEY ARE EATING.
FARMERS MARKET:
THE AG DEPARTMENT IS CELEBRATING NATIONAL FARMER'S MARKET WEEK. USDA SAYS THE NUMBER OF FARMER'S MARKETS HAS GROWN 76-PERCENT SINCE 2008. IT NOW TOPS 82-HUNDRED NATIONWIDE. BECAUSE OF THE GROWTH, THE AG DEPARTMENT CREATED AN ONLINE DIRECTORY WHICH SHOWS LOCATIONS, HOURS AND PRODUCT OFFERING. ACCORDING TO THE DIRECTORY, CALIFORNIA HAS THE MOST FARMERS MARKETS. USDA SAYS ALL GEOGRAPHIC REGIONS OF THE COUNTRY SAW ANNUAL INCREASES IN THEIR MARKET LISTINGS BUT MOST OF THE GROWTH WAS IN THE SOUTH. THAT DIRECTORY CAN BE FOUND AT FARMERS-MARKETS-DOT-USDA-DOT-GOV.
