FOLLOWING THE PATH OF OUR EXCLUSIVE INTERSTATE 80 PLANTING TOUR - OHIO CORN IS 78-PERCENT GOOD TO EXCELLENT, INDIANA SITS AT 72-PERCENT, ILLINOIS AT 76, AND IOWA AT 83-PERCENT. THE EXCEPTION IS NEBRASKA WHICH IS 66-PERCENT GOOD TO EXCELENT. TWO THIRDS OF THAT STATE IS IN SOME FORM OF DROUGHT.
MILK PRODUCTION:
USDA IS OUT WITH ITS LATEST MONTHLY MILK PRODUCTION FIGURES. THESE NUMBERS COME FROM THE TOP 23 MILKING STATES. PRODUCTION REACHED JUST SHY OF 17 BILLION POUNDS, UP ONE AND A HALF PERCENT FROM A YEAR AGO. PRODUCTION PER COW WAS 19-HUNDRED-AND 76 POUNDS FOR THE MONTH. USDA SAYS THIS IS THE HIGHEST PER-COW PRODUCTION FOR MAY SINCE 2003. THE HERD SIZE GREW BY TEN-THOUSAND HEAD.
