Consultant Lowers Argentine Soybean Crop Peg, Again

April 18, 2012
By: Julianne Johnston, Pro Farmer Digital Managing Editor

South American crop consultant Dr. Michael Cordonnier Dr. Michael Cordonnier lowered his estimate of the Argentine soybean crop by 2 million metric tons (MMT) to 43.5 MMT due to continued poor crop conditions, with the problem area now being northern provinces. He left all other estimates unchanged, but says there could still be a slight downward adjustment to the bean crop, while he could raise his Brazilian corn crop estimate if recent rains in Brazil's safrinha (second season) corn production areas continue.
