For more than 10 years, the FarmAssist website from Syngenta has provided online pest, weather, market and crop protection updates. Recent enhancements include a mobile-friendly version of the website so users can more easily view the website from their smartphone and tablet.

"With FarmAssist Mobile, any mobile device with wireless web service can become an agronomic tool," says Anthony Transou, Syngenta Internet marketing manager. "The integration of additional information will offer new levels of convenience to growers across the U.S., allowing them access to both agronomic and product information from the field where they work."

An enhanced search feature allows users to search by hybrid or brand name, target relative maturities or trait stacks, and more. Other new features offer additional information with better efficiency. To learn more, visit www.m.farmassist.com.

A Colorful Way to Measure Nitrogen

pC12 Tech Journal A Colorful Way to Measure Nitrogen

The new FieldScout GreenIndex+ app captures and processes images from an iPhone, iPod Touch or iPad to instantly compute the dark green color index (DGCI) of corn leaves. GreenIndex+ can also compute a corresponding value to estimate the nitrogen requirement (in pounds per acre) during the V6 growth stage, when nitrogen requirements dramatically increase. This helps farmers apply nitrogen at the best time and rate.

The GreenIndex+ technology detects low nitrogen levels in corn leaves and writes a nitrogen prescription. This type of corrective measure, based on early diagnosis of severe nitrogen deficiencies, can prevent yield reductions. All data is logged and georeferenced and can bee-mailed to users for further analysis.

Rabo AgriFinance’s Vendor Finance, a new app for the iPad, provides financing information and assists farmers in making more informed input decisions. The app is targeted to vendor finance customers of Rabo AgriFinance, including input manufacturers, ag retailers and producers, and can be downloaded for free from the iTunes Store.

"Rabo AgriFinance is still a relatively new financing option for row crop producers, and we want growers to be more familiar with the fact that we were founded by farmers, for farmers," says Tom Owen, Rabo Agri-Finance senior relationship manager.

The app also has two interactive videos and several Food & Agribusiness Research and Advisory reports. Once downloaded, the app is fully functional without an Internet connection. Users can save the calculator financing scenarios for future credit application submission.
