The Farm Journal Foundation announced today that its Farmers Feeding the World campaign will join the Alliance to End Hunger. Led by Ambassador Tony Hall, the Alliance is a nonprofit organization that brings together diverse stakeholders dedicated to building the political and public will to end hunger in the United States and around the world. Farmers Feeding the World will join the more than 80 domestic and international NGOs, corporations, religious organizations, universities, healthcare providers, advocacy groups and individuals who make up the Alliance, in an effort to end hunger through education and advocacy.
The Farmers Feeding the World campaign is rallying the agriculture community to fight hunger directly and to educate consumers and policy leaders about the importance of modern agriculture in the context of national and global food security challenges. Membership in the Alliance to End Hunger will magnify the campaign’s education and advocacy efforts through increased direct engagement with key influencers and lawmakers positioned to address hunger issues. Farmers Feeding the World’s Washington, D.C., office will continue to advocate on behalf of modern agriculture’s capacity to end hunger through complementary activities such as face-to-face meetings with food and agriculture policy leaders and supporting live educational events such as the Farm Journal Forum and the Meet the Freshman Roundtable.
"Through its membership in the Alliance to End Hunger, Farmers Feeding the World is looking forward to expanding its presence in the ongoing policy debate about food security," said Charlene Finck, President of the Farm Journal Foundation. "Working with the Alliance’s seasoned leadership and diverse group of members who share common goals will amplify our message about the role of modern agriculture in sustainably feeding the world. In turn, Farmers Feeding the World hopes to add a unique perspective to the Alliance as well."
"We are delighted to welcome Farmers Feeding the World into the Alliance to End Hunger," said the Alliance’s Executive Director, Ambassador Tony Hall. "Their campaign to educate consumers and policy makers on the importance of modern agriculture in the fight against hunger will bring a unique and valued voice to the Alliance table, and we are eager to engage them in our ongoing advocacy efforts around national and global food security."
