Healthy, Fast-maturing U.S. Rice Crop

Half of this year's rice crop is headed and nearly 70% is rated good or excellent for condition.

 

The rice crop in the top six producting states is maturing ahead of normal this year. As of this week, 66% is headed, which is significantly ahead of the 43% five-year average for this time. In Arkansas, Texas, Mississippi and Louisiana, 80% or more of the crop is headed.

For crop condition, this year's crop aligns with last year. The current rice condition ratings are: 2% very poor, 4% poor, 24% fair, 45% good and 25% excellent.
