The legacy workshop series began Tuesday in Ames, Iowa. Over 190 producers spent the day in Ames learning about passing the farm from one generation to the next from Farm Journal succession expert, Kevin Spafford.
The workshop agenda ranged from tips to become better communicators, to tactics for planning succession and even covered preparing the next generation for a leadership role on the farm.
The workshop in Ames is the first of a series of workshops presented by Spafford intended to help prepare family farms to survive succession. The Farm Journal Legacy Project team moves to Nebraska next with a workshop in
Grand Island, Neb. Workshops will happen in Minnesota, Wisconsin and South Dakota in March. Workshop registration is open until the facility capacity is reached.
