Make Dry and Liquid Products Measure Up

July 17, 2012 07:33 AM

One ounce of a liquid herbicide is not necessarily equal to an ounce of a dry flowable product, notes Fred Whitford, coordinator for Purdue University Pesticide Programs.

That’s just one of the overlooked issues, Whitford explains, that farmers and retailers need to more effectively address during the product measuring and mixing process.

"Mixing and measuring problems can undermine an effective application," Whitford says. "If you don’t accurately measure product—and use too little or too much—you can negate the reasons why you purchased the product, offset your calibration efforts and create problems at the job site."

Plus, Whitford adds: "It can cost you a lot of money."

In the following video, Whitford provides additional recommendations on how to more effectively make liquid and dry products measure up for successful applications in your fields.
