Trimble Introduces Field IQ for 2011

Technology designed to make your job on the farm more efficient and effective is what Trimble had in mind with its new Field-IQ product, introduced in time for the 2011 growing season.

The new product is just one of three the company introduced during its retailer meeting in Loveland, Colo., earlier this week.

Field IQ capabilities include the ability to monitor seed delivery and fertilizer blockage and also manage application of up to six variable rate products. These capabilities include support for row crop planters, air seeder, strip till and spreader platforms, according to Micah Eidem, product manager.

Eidem says, for instance, that the Field IQ offers unique overlap protection that is more accurate than in the past as well as finer calculations for seeding practices and sprayer boom sections.

“Where that comes becomes really important to the farmer is when you want to make a change by shifting up or shifting down with fertilizer or prescription seeding,” Eidem says.  “In these situations, we’re able to offer a greater degree of accuracy and faster than ever before.”

In the following video, Eidem discusses how the new Field IQ input system works, the benefits offered and where you can get more information on it.
