Launched in 2010, Farm Journal Legacy Project workshops help families begin the process of transitioning their family farm to the next generation. The Legacy Project workshops offer hands-on training with you hearing from three speakers who are experts in succession planning, tax and legal issues. Also, you will use a step-by-step workbook to assist in your readiness and help with implementation of your plan

In June, the Roberts family of West Winfield, N.Y., attending a Legacy Project Workshop in Syracuse, N.Y. Dick Roberts says he gained a lot of important information to really help propel his family’s plan forward. "We have scheduled family meetings, but this went beyond that," he says. "At the workshop, we learned about things that we’ve never thought about before."

Christina Roberts, Dick’s wife, agrees. "This information is really valuable," she says. "The workshop provided encouragement, direction and a plan on how you want to determine where you want to go."
