For his birthday, a Danish farmer rode four days on his scooter to arrive in Fabbrico, Italy for a tour of the Landini tractor factory. Flemming Lauridsen runs a farm in Denmark where a Landini LandiniScooterMythos and two Valpadana tractors carry out his daily farm chores and jobs.

The round trip totaled 2,500 miles. Before leaving for the trip Lauridsen branded his 50 cc. Peugeot scooter with Landini decals. He was assisted by Praesbo Maskiner, the Landini importer in Denmark. After he arrived in Fabbrico, Lauridsen received a factory tour of the Landini line of tractors.

Argo Tractors, the parent company of Landini, has its headquarters in Fabbrico. For the McCormick and Landini tractor brands, the company has four plants, 27 product ranges, eight business branches in the world and 130 foreign importers.

Don’t Miss Your Chance for a Free Planter Makeover

Sep 22, 2010

Head to the field for planting season 2011 with a spring in your step and less bounce in your row unit!

We’ve partnered with Precision Planting to give one lucky farmer the chance to take his corn planter from problematic to smooth-running.

Enter Project Fresh Start and nominate yourself or another farmer to be the chosen as the recipient of a corn planter makeover. The planter does not have to be used exclusively to plant corn, but the entrant must plant some corn acres in their operation.

Write us a letter explaining why the farmer is the best choice for the makeover. Be sure to include a photo(s) of the planter as well as general information about the machine. The opportunity is open to any corn farmer, but special consideration will be given to a producer who has endured a personal or business hardship.

The winner’s planter will be picked up at the farm and transported to the Precision Planting shop where its team of pros will completely refurbish the machine from hitch pin to closing wheels. The overhauled machine will be back on the farm in time for planting—and ready to go. In addition, Precision Planting experts will be on call to help ensure a fresh start in the spring.

Nominations can be:

This Week is National Farm Safety & Health Week

Sep 20, 2010

This year, there’s a special focus on ATV safety during National Farm Safety & Health Week, which takes place September 19 to 25. The National Education Center for Agricultural Safety leads the effort for the week, has been an annual promotion since 1944.

For 2010, the theme is ATVs: Work Smart. Ride Safe to highlight the safe operation of ATVs across the countryside.

nfshnw 2010 Color 20LogoThe U.S. Consumer Product and Safety Commission reports 410 deaths related to ATV use in 2008 and estimates over 135,000 injuries treated in emergency rooms in the U.S.

Legislation and training for ATV operation is not consistent between states. You can find your state’s most up to date regulations at www.ATVSafety.gov.
