Side-by-Side Harvest History

 Indiana farmer Brian, who blogs over at The Farmer’s Life, shared with me a recent study he did in comparing his family’s John Deere 45 from the 1950s with their current 9670 STS.

He shared with that they recently got the 45 out of the barn and actually ran it in the field, which spurred him to do a side-by-side comparison of the two machines… 55 years of combine history. Check out some of the specs below:

  Model 45 Model 9670
cutting width 10' 35'
grain tank capacity 40 bushels 400 bushels
weight 6,100 lb. 32,667 lb.
horsepower 42 hp 305 hp

As Brian says, "Some of those differences are huge, but others like height aren’t that far apart."
