A cartoonish look at life...
In a little less than two weeks I’ll be heading up to the beautiful Northwest do a couple of my Rubes cartoony shows in Roseburg and Corvallis Oregon. (You are invited! For details see: http://www.rubescartoons.com/events.html).
After recently spending two days of my life traveling to Wisconsin and back for the World Dairy Expo this trip will be a breeze. It’s just a little more than two hours each way and for that I am very glad. Oh, it also doesn’t hurt that the airline I’ll be flying with also serves free micro-brewed beer. (YES!) I’ve had more than my share of travel related horror stories this year so I’m keeping my fingers crossed that this upcoming trip (at least the flights) will be as uneventful as possible. For my flight out of Madison last week I had dragged myself out of bed at 3:45 in the morning so I wouldn’t miss my 6:30 departure. As it turned out the plane was overbooked and two volunteers were needed to skip the flight before we were allowed to board. Several announcements were made, each one just a little less friendly, that there would be no boarding until there were two volunteers who would give up their seats to make the necessary space on the plane. I was starting to wonder if I’d miss my connecting flight from Dallas to Burbank as the flight was now seriously delayed. I was not happy. It wasn’t due to weather or mechanical problems but to the airline’s own overbooking. This just happened to be the same airline that I had already experienced several other delays on earlier this year. I have to give ‘em this...they’re consistent when it comes to messing with my travel plans! Finally, two brave souls volunteered and I was on my way (there was no apology from the airline for the delay...no surprise there). After this many unpleasant experiences I have come to expect very little from air travel. Just get me there and back, breathing and in one piece and I’m satisfied. Oh, a free beer now and again doesn’t hurt either.
Have a monstrously fun time at: www.rubescartoons.com
..you would think that airlines would have a program on their computer that would tell them how many seats were left, and when it is full??
I recently had a terrible flight experience as well. The airline gave away my seat WHILE I was sitting in it! Thanks for letting me vent, the Invisible Man
