Back Seat Driving
Dec 13, 2010
Nobody appreciates backseat drivers, yet having to be my son’s driving instructor puts me unwillingly in that position on a daily basis. Slow down! Speed up! Look to your right! Look to you left! Look to your right again!...So, in order to maintain my sanity, minimize potential damage to the car and keep from going hoarse my wife and I hired a professional driving instructor to teach the kid. (It’s so much easier to let a pro do the yelling.) Speaking of backseat drivers, my wife does most of the driving when we go places that require a set of motorized wheels. This arrangement affords me ample time and opportunity to brush up on my backseat driving skills. Unfortunately my wife does not always appreciate my helpful suggestions. Sometimes it’s just more politically correct to refrain from offering up my expert driving tips in order to keep the peace. Besides, it’s probably better for me to voluntarily keep my mouth shut lest I end up than end up like the lady in the very politally incorrect cartoon below...
