The latest scam

So my oldest son has decided to move out. The first little birdie to leave the nest. (This means that we get to do a whole lot less laundry!). Now rentals on, near or by the California coast do not come cheaply so when he said he found a four bedroom house for rent on Craigslist for $1,100 a month (a good deal by California standards) he was very interested. (My first question was, “Does it come with a washer and dryer?”) As it turned out the house was just around the corner from us on a cul de sac. I saw the photo on Craigslist and it seemed too good to be true. My son emailed the “owner” and he quickly received a reply...from Nigeria. The “owner” wanted quite a bit of information of a personal nature, and get this...he wanted a photo of the “family.” (My son was tempted to send a photo of the cast of Full House or the Cosby show). If any of this sounds the least bit suspicious to you then you are not alone. I didn’t just fall off the turnip truck and neither did my son so naturally he took a five minute stroll around the corner to check out the “Nigerian rental.” As it turns out the house is indeed for rent but there was a sign in the window saying that it was not listed on Craigslist and that if you were interested, a number for the property rental company for you to contact. So what’s the point of all this you ask?...I’ll let you know as soon as get back from Costco to buy another jumbo-sized jug of detergent.
