Canning Tomato Soup

Oct 02, 2013

If you are still trying to use up the last hurrah of tomatoes in your garden you might enjoy Grandma’s Canned Tomato Soup. Now – for the diehard grocery store tomato soup fans, well this has a very different flavor and feel as this includes celery and onion. This is a great soup to serve in the dead of winter with grilled cheese. This is one for the grown ups in the house so jazz that grilled cheese up by using a chewy Ciabatta or hearty Farmhouse white bread with a Gruyere, Cheddar, Fontina, Havarti or a mixture of those cheeses in the middle. To serve the soup I like to make mine creamy by stirring in a little half and half or milk, whatever I have on hand. Jenny and I got together to put up several jars of Grandma's Canned Tomato Soup so we could share some photos of this classic along with the recipe. We hope you enjoy!  (Click the title next to the photo to get the recipe).
