Poll results from the recent Ag Executive Forum

Although the Ag Executive Forum, hosted by Farm Journal and the Association of Equipment Manufacturers, was off the record, we used our networking event to conduct an informal opinion poll of agriculture’s leaders. Agribusiness executives and top-level producers in the crowd used handheld, immediate-response polling devices to quickly voice their opinions.

While the group had a largely positive view of the future, water scarcity remains a concern. For example, 43% of respondents said water is the most limiting factor for the future success of agriculture, followed by regulations (21%). Close to a quarter of respondents (23%) said a shortage of water keeps them up at night when thinking about the future of agriculture in the U.S.

Entrepreneurial spirit will remain a competitive advantage for North America, 39% of respondents said. Nearly 47% said U.S. agriculture "absolutely" will be able to meet demands to feed, fuel and clothe the world in 2050.
