Helping women understand agriculture and improve skills at the executive level

Designed specifically for women, an outstanding lineup of speakers will home in on improving
business skills, farm management and marketing.

In its second year, the Executive Women in  Agriculture (EWA) conference will be held Nov. 29–30 at the InterContinental hotel in downtown Chicago. Participants will learn techniques to improve their negotiating skills, get the latest information about insurance options and discover tools to help with advocating agriculture.

The number of women operators has increased by 20% since 2002, and more than 75% are full owners of their land. "As we transition to the next generation of women farm managers and owners, the need to understand farm business practices has never been greater," says Jeanne Bernick, Top Producer editor. "This conference will help women develop skills to excel at the executive level."

Registration, open through Nov. 21, costs $329 per person and is available online at www.ExecWomenInAg.com.

Learn and Network. Keynote speaker Molly Cox, an entrepreneur, comedian and best-selling author, will help you build a less stressful and more balanced life while leaving you laughing. She is the co-author of Improvise This! How to Think on Your Feet so You Don’t Fall on Your Face and has twice been on the CEO-READ top 25 list.

Bernick will kick off the conference with a brief welcome and Danny Klinefelter, a Texas A&M ag economist, will talk about how women are changing the business of agriculture. Other sessions include: "Commodity Marketing Strategies for Livestock," with Toni Dunker of Advance Trading; "Crop Insurance Questions Answered," with Jamie Wasemiller of the Gulke Group; and "Are You on Top of Your Tax Game?" with Paul Neiffer, CPA, of LarsonAllen.

Top Producer thanks its EWA sponsors: Agrotain; America’s Farmers Mom of the Year; BASF; Bayer CropScience; Dow AgroSciences; DuPont Pioneer; Farm Credit; Monsanto Company; SFP; Top Third Ag Marketing; and Water Street Solutions.
