Total unit sales of tractors and combines saw another month-over-month decline in September 2013, the Association of Equipment Manufacturers reports in its monthly flash report.

The trend began in June, when total unit sales of tractors (2WD and 4WD) and combines fell to roughly 22,000 units from nearly 25,000 units in the previous month, AEM says. Since that time, unit sales have fallen to about 17,000 units, resembling levels last seen in September 2012. That puts total unit sales slightly above the five-year average.

For the month of September 2013, total two-wheel drive tractor sales were up roughly 9% compared with data from 2012. Four-wheel-drive tractor sales fell nearly 22%, while combine sales fell nearly 24%.
