New “Ideal” Holsteins Unveiled

July 3, 2012
By: Jim Dickrell, Dairy Today Editor

The Holstein Association USA unveiled its new, true-type, “ideal” cow and bull at last week’s national convention in Springfield, Mo.

The Holstein Association commissioned Bonnie Mohr, an accomplished artist who specializes in bovine portraiture, to paint the animals.

“I grew up on a dairy farm, and I have a huge love and passion for the dairy cow,” says Mohr. She and her husband continue to milk cows on their Glencoe, Minn. farm. It was almost 25 years ago when she decided to become a professional artist.

Her goal was to paint the new true type Holstein cow and bull. “Today, that dream came true,” she says.
