Have you had one of those days...where everything just goes wrong? Here are some shots from when the brakes just didn't work...
Don’t Park It There
It had been a good day … until this farmer saw his grain semi taking a swim. The hot summer Kentucky day must have provoked the truck to go looking for water! It took two days, two bulldozers and an excavator to dig it out.
A Tangled Mess
Despite a wide-open field and ideal spring conditions, this seeding rig found itself snarled amongst power lines. Planting came to a halt as well as the electrical supply of those on the power grid.
Bridge Collapse
I've received a number of good pictures over the past couple of years, but these are the best. I'm not sure who the producer is, but the picture is taken near Hettinger, ND after spring 2009 flooding weakened the bridge.

Truck Turnover
This is what happens after you realize that your brakes on gone, just before taking a corner.
Buried in Corn
Hauling grain has its challenges. This semi found itself buried in grain drifts when the driver mistakenly pulled ahead to empty the pup but didn’t let the box down. A costly mistake with high grain prices!
A Topsy Turnover
This machine made a wrong turn, equaling in a turnover.
Soggy Squad
When a sprayer got stuck, two more tractors ended up getting their feet a little too wet as well.
Oops
This tractor proved it was still a little too wet to get back in the fields this spring.
Maybe a little too wet
soft sandy ground chiseled in fall, too wet in spring
Tracked Combine Washed Out
This tracked combine got stuck in a tile washout.
Water Hazard
How does the farmer get to his field on the other side of the river? He crosses the river….
Truck's on Fire
This 1995 Kenworth 600 caught fire while hauling grain to the elevator. The field next ot it also caught on fire. Straw in the motor and Kenworth don't mix too well.

On Fire for Tillage
These Nebraska farmers were in a hurry to get their spring tillage done, but the tractor didn’t make it to the end of the field before the flames took control.
A Nut Case
The less-than-ideal weather conditions were more than complicating harvest on this New York far--that is, until the nut came off the end of the shaft, Rain or shine, this combine was going no where.
Down Deep
The plan was to build a pond. From the looks of this, the pond might still get dug—but it will be done as the new crew of machines work to unearth this excavator that’s not going anywhere by itself.
Plenty of peat not enough sand
This machine got bogged down in peat without a bottom in sight
Receiver Hitch Failure
What happens when the cushioned receiver hitch retaining pin on a pickup truck either breaks or falls out. It was never found. Someone reported this mishap to the WDNR (Wisconsin Department of Natural Resources) as deer baiting and the WDNR forced the owners to clean it up.
A Pond in the Works
The plan was to build a pond. From the looks of this, the pond might still get dug—but it will be done as the new crew of machines work to unearth this excavator that’s not going anywhere by itself.
A Sinking Feeling
Watching the runaway silage wagon begin its descent down the hill after unhooking it was only the beginning. It took two days to drain the farm pond and fork out the haylage by hand.
An Uphill Battle
While en route to another field one evening, this tractor and chisel plow broke through a bridge it had crossed many times before. When attempting to pull itself out of the situation, the chisel plow got hung up on the separation of the bridge.
Fendt’s Dirty Job
It must have been a dirty job and the Fendt had to do it—from the looks of this Fendt 936 at the Agritechnica show in Hanover, Germany. The tractor came straight from work to the exhibit hall and skipped the Armor All detail.
Broken Axle
Last load of the day, and the axle broke on our wagon.

Frozen Plans
Cold weather and snow stopped this farmer’s plans in their tracks.
Live and Learn
A curve in the road proved to be too much for this bulldozer, sending a candid reminder to use chains, chains and more chains to secure equipment.
Silo Meets Truck
More than 500 tons of corn silage erupted from this 20'x60' silo. When the silo toppled, the parked 2005 Dodge Ram 2500 was flattened like a pancake by the weight of the silage.
Tipsy Turvy
What do a hill, a groundhog hole and driving fast have in common? All three combined to make this baler tip over. While trying to beat the rain, the farmer went a bit too fast on an incline and hit a groundhog hole. The tractor almost tipped over, too. Luckily, everything turned out all right, if not right-side-up.
Big Time Ouch
Use the right number of transport chains and always slow down for a “U” curve—those are two lessons this driver will never forget after the custom combine he was hauling rolled off the semitrailer.

Caution Wet Grain
An explosion in a grain dryer at a Nebraska elevator, injured one and took out the facility’s railway access for several months. Small fires flared for three months after the explosion as crews removed debris.
Just a Little Too Wet
After battling weather challenges all year, this SpraCoupe was already behind schedule—and going nowhere. Owned by a farm seed and chemical company, it was the first of three sprayers to get stuck. When it rains, it pours!
Just Cleaning Things Up a Bit
This farmer took time to do a “little cleaning up” around his fields. However, after two days of digging, the tractor needed more cleaning than the fields.
Off Balance
Brush-hogging is usually an easy summertime job. That is unless your tractor and brush hog get just a little off balance on the embankment. Luckily, the driver was not hurt and his equipment was not damaged.
