GRASSLEY IMMIGRATION:

GOOD MORNING I'M CLINTON GRIFFITHS. IMMIGRATION REFORM FACES ITS FIRST UPHILL BATTLE THIS WEEK AS THE MEASURE MOVES THROUGH COMMITTEE. SENATE JUDICIARY CHAIRMAN PATRICK LEAHY OF VERMONT HAS OFFERED HIS OWN AMENDMENTS. AND ONE IN PARTICULAR IS GARNERING ATTENTION OF REPUBLICANS. LEAHY WANTS TO EXTEND IMMIGRATION RIGHTS TO SAME-SEX COUPLES AND ALLOW THEM TO PETITION TO MAKE THEIR PARTNERS U.S. CITIZENS. REPUBLICAN SUPPORTERS OF THE LEGISLATION SAY INCLUDING SUCH A PROVISION WOULD COST THEIR SUPPORT.

WORLD TRADE ORANIZATION:

THE WORLD TRADE ORGANIZATION IS NAMING A NEW DIRECTOR GENERAL. ROBERTO AZEVEDO OF BRAZIL WAS WELCOMED TO LEAD THE GENEVA BASED WTO AZEVEDO IS A WELL KNOWN DIPLOMAT AND IS INTIMATELY FAMILIAR WITH WORLD TRADE POLICY AND ISSUES. HE TAKES OVER FOR PASCAL LA-MEE OF FRANCE--WHO HAS HELD THAT POSITION FOR THE LAST 8 YEARS. AZEVEDO IS THE FIRST LATIN AMERICAN HOLD THE POSITION.

BEEF TODAY REPORT:

CATTLE FUTURES FELL WEDNESDAY WIDENING THE GAP BETWEEN FUTURES AND THE CASH MARKET. BEEF PRICES HOWEVER--THEY'RE SETTING NEW RECORD HIGHS THIS SPRING.

FED CATTLE:

BEEF PRODUCERS WHO FARM NEAR ETHANOL PLANTS TYPICALLY HAVE ACCESS TO DISTILLERS GRAINS AFTER THE FUEL IS PRODUCED. THESE "LEFTOVERS" STILL HAVE PLENTY OF NUTRITIONAL VALUE FOR CATTLE. A VIRGINIA RANCHER HAS A SIMILAR ARRANGEMENT. BUT IN THIS CASE, HE'S USING MASH LEFT-OVER FROM BEER PRODUCTION. IN THIS REPORT PROVIDED BY THE VIRGINIA FARM BUREAU, PATRICK DUNN TELLS US ABOUT THIS SPECIAL RELATIONSHIP OF BEEF-N-BEER.

CROP WATCH:

AFTER WEEKS OF WAITING, FARMERS ARE FINDING A FEW WINDOWS TO GET FIELD WORK DONE. MIKE HOFFMAN HAS DETAILS THIS MORNING IN OUR CROP WATCH.

DOW:

IN AGRIBUSINESS THE RALLY ON WALL STREET CONTINUES TO SET NEW HIGHS.

ANALYSIS:

THIS FRIDAY, USDA ROLLS OUT ITS LATEST SUPPLY DEMAND REPORT. ANALYSTS ARE ALREADY GEARING UP FOR WHAT COULD A VOLATILE FEW HOURS. AL PELL AND CHIP NELLINGER EXPLAIN IN THIS MORNING ANALYSIS.

LSU WETLANDS:

SPRINGTIME MEANS CLASS TRIPS FOR MANY SCHOOL KIDS IN THIS COUNTRY. FOR STUDENTS FROM WASHINGTON D-C, THEIR TRIP TOOK THEM TO NEW ORLEANS TO GET THEIR HANDS DIRTY. THEY'RE HELPING TO REPAIR A DAMAGED WETLAND. THE PROJECT IS PART LSU AGCENTER'S YOUTH WETLANDS WEEK. AGCENTER CORRESPONDENT TOBIE BLANCHARD HAS THIS STORY.

FAST FOOD NUTRITION:

FAST FOOD SHOPS HAVE WORKED TO IMPROVE THE QUALITY AND NUTRITIONAL VALUE OF THEIR MENUS IN RECENT YEARS. A NEW STUDY SAYS, THEY'VE GOT A WAYS TO GO.
