Agriculture Accounts for 5% of U.S. Economy

September 29, 2011

Agriculture contributes around $700 billion to the U.S. economy, says American Farm Bureau Federation President Bob Stallman. "That’s a number I don’t think people realize," he says.

Stallman says agriculture continues to have positive growth and plays a large role in the health of the nation’s economy. "Every $1 billion of additional U.S. ag exports creates approximately 9,000 jobs."

Listen in as Stallman visits with AgWeb Editor Greg Vincent as part of AgWeb.com’s "A Day in Agriculture."
