Display herbicide is available for the 2012 growing season, says Craig Heim, FMC product development manager. Combining two PPO-inhibiting products, Aim herbicide (carfentrazone-ethyl) and Cadet herbicide (fluthiacet-methyl), Display can be used in two ways.
First, it can work as a Managed Maturity product with late-season applications once the crop reaches roughly 10% open boll. "Use it on rank cotton or cotton with a lot of green growth to eliminate the upper terminal growth, which robs the plant of nutrients," Heim advises.
Display can also be used as a defoliant at about 60% open boll. Farmers will be able to use either application timing or both. Application rates range from 0.4 oz. to 0.6 oz. per acre for a ground or aerial application; it is rainfast about an hour after application.
