Moe Russell, Farm Journal columnist and president of Russell Consulting, says a typical farming operation includes four key areas:
- Marketing
- Labor
- Machinery
- Agronomy
He says farmers have a great opportunity to improve the agronomic management area of their operation by maximizing low interest rates. "Next year, you can apply two years of fertilizer and sell some 2013 and 2014 corn to offset those costs. This is an excellent strategy that I just don’t think you can go wrong with."
