After School Cookie Ideas

Aug 12, 2013

Hard to believe summer is almost over and school will be starting soon.  Bittersweet – sad to see the lazy days of summer go and yet looking forward to getting everyone back into a working routine again.  Seems this time of year brings back memories of the after school cookies we all enjoyed as kids.  So whether you have children at home to enjoy them with or just want to indulge by yourself - here are a few ideas to satisfy your cookie craving.  Don’t forget the milk!  (Click the titles next to the photo to get the recipes).

Lemon Gems – My Dad once said after biting into these – "It’s like biting into sunshine…"  For sure this is a great tasting little cookie – EASY for the inexperienced baker and QUICK for the busy baker  - how could that be possible?  Well the secret ingredient is a cake mix.
Kristina’s Peanut Butter Cookiesno added fat and very little flour –a great cookie.  A family favorite at our house.
Suzanne’s Sugar Cookies – the classic frosted sugar cookie.  These are so good – my sister’s recipe.

Kristina’s Monster Cookies – peanut butter, oatmeal and pops of chocolate.  NO FLOUR.
Cake Mix Chocolate Crinkle Cookies – inspired by the Lemon Gems recipe – it starts with a cake mix.
Chocolate Polka Dot Cookies – for the chocolate lover.  Chocolate base with white chocolate chips.

Orange Slices Candy Cookies – use up those orange slices candy from making the Jams we have posted in the canning section of our website.

Easy Monster Cookies – this was shared with me by a client of mine who enjoys making these with her very young girls.

Charlie’s Chocolate Cookies – an EASY NO BAKE cookie.

Oatmeal Scotchies – the traditional oatmeal cookie with a butterscotch twist.

Congratulations to Mike from Clive, IA who won the Classic Cranberry Wreath from our Christmas in July giveaway.  He submitted a soup recipe that he makes each year during the holidays for his wife, kids and their extended family.  His soup recipe has won in a couple local contests.  We will be showcasing his family recipe on the website later this year.  THANK YOU TO EVERYONE WHO ENTERED – I truly appreciate your support of our website.
