Faster, Heavier Gains

May 27, 2009

Lallemand Animal Nutrition releases a Direct Fed Microbial (DFM) product designed for cattle fed diets containing distillers' grains plus solubles. Micro-Cell Gold contains a combination of Lactobacillus acidophilus BT1386 and Lactobacillus buchneri 40788. This unique bacteria combination improves feed efficiency, average daily gain, feed conversion and pathogen control. In more than 20 controlled studies, Lactobacillus acidophilus BT1386 in Micro-Cell has built a firm reputation of improving animal performance. Additionally, university trials at Kansas State University, University of Nebraska-Lincoln and University of Nebraska-Scottsbluff have shown improvements in weight gain and conversion. In one study at Kansas State University, cattle fed Lactobacillus buchneri gained weight 5.6% faster than the control group. After a 126-day trial period, cattle fed Lactobacillus buchneri were 22 1b. per head heavier.
