Planning for the generational transfer of a family farm involves so much more than legal documents, life insurance policies and financial planning. Leadership from the senior generation and leadership development for the next generation is just as vital to the future success of an operation.    
The traits of a leader are as varied as the farms they own, manage and work so diligently to preserve. At the core, though, a leader is dedicated, self-reliant, accountable, reliable, responsible, hardworking, persistent, interdependent, independent, passionate, engaged and committed.
