Pam Fretwell with Farm Journal Radio discusses the crop tour with Pro Farmer general manager and vice president Chuck Roth. Fretwell notes that there’s an enormous number of people on the tour that are not farmers. Only a third of the scouts are farmers and the remainder are individuals from all different facets of agriculture from all around the world.

The crop tour, Roth says, is a rare opportunity for people—who might not ever get a chance to visit a field—to participate in a significant, market moving event. Plus, they have a chance to get in a corn or soybean field to better comprehend the scale of Midwest farming.
