A disaster can happen in an instant. You might be able to affect the severity of the outcome with the following prevention plan:

  • Map out your farmstead on graph paper or computer. Identify your house, well, buildings, driveways, bridges and fences.
  • List the contents of each building and potential hazards.
  • Develop an emergency contact list with names and phone numbers; put those who know the most about the farm first.
  • Share the crisis plan with local emergency personnel and all of your employees.
