Historic Tractor for Versatile

In late October, Versatile built the 100,000th tractor at the company’s Winnipeg, Canada factory. The farmers who purchased the milestone machine, a Versatile 305 MFWD tractor, were the Bracelin family from St. Francis, Kan. Rodney, his son Chris and grandson Cade, made the trip with the dealer salesman Jon Yost of Goodland Yost Farm Supply to see the tractor come off the production line. The dealership has sold Versatile tractors since 1968, and Rodney Bracelin has owned up to 22 Versatile tractors on his farm that includes 10,000 acres of pasture and crop land. The Bracelins, along with Rodney’s brother Kenny, raise cattle, dryland wheat, and dryland and irrigated corn.

“This is the third row crop Versatile we’ve owned, the rest were four-wheel-drives,” Rodney says. “First thing it’ll be used for is to pull the strip-till bar. We’ll also use it for planting, other tillage, the grain cart and spraying.”

In October 2007, the company built its 50,000th four-wheel-drive tractor. It was sold to a farmer in Russia, who reportedly was startled to see all the signatures of the employees underneath the side panels, as it was signed upon completion.

The Bracelin’s 305 features chrome accents, a red metallic paint job, and a graphic detail on the hood that features every significant tractor in the Versatile 50 year history.
