In 1837, a man named John Deere fashioned a plow from a broken sawmill blade.
Today, the company that he started and still bears his name is celebrating 175 years in business. You can learn more here. During the anniversary year, each factory will have an event and there will be additional ceremonies to mark the milestone.
A display at the National Farm Machinery Show featured a replica of that plow.
