New Power in Small-Frame Package

With four new models, Massey Ferguson expands the 7600 Series. Powered by AGCO Power 6.6-liter engines that are Tier 4 Interim compliant, the tractors range from 110 to 130 PTO horsepower. Features include a redesigned, ergonomic cab and OptiRide cab suspension. A choice of Dyna-VT (continuously variable), Dyna-6 (24-speed, partial powershift) or Dyna-4 (16-speed, partial powershift) transmissions offer efficient power transfer. For more, visit a Massey Ferguson dealer or www.masseyferguson.com.

Close to the Crop

New Holland

New Holland CR Series Twin Rotor and CX8000 Series Super-Conventional combines can be paired with the new 840CD rigid draper head. Designed for harvesting cereals, grains, rice and other specialty crops, the 840CD rigid draper is available in cutting widths of 25', 30', 35', 40' and 45'. The 25', 30' and 35' heads feature a single-span, plastic-tine pickup reel while two larger models use a dual-span reel with plastic tines. For harvesting rice, 25' single-span and 30' or 35' dual-span steel-tine reel options are also available. The 840CD head features the patented New Holland SynchroKnife drive—a center knife-drive system. Variable-speed outer draper belts and fixed-speed twin 41.6" center draper belts deliver the crop smoothly to the floating 26" diameter auger. The auger features 5" flighting to handle heavy crop and feed it smoothly into the combine. A flat auger floor angle aids crop flow, and the auger can be adjusted up and down to match crop height. For more, visit a New Holland dealer or www.newholland.com.

Cut, Size, Mix and Bury Residue

JD disk ripper

John Deere introduces the 2720 Disk Ripper, a heavy-duty, primary tillage tool that sizes and buries crop residue, penetrates and shatters compacted soils, and mixes and levels the soil surface. The 2720 Disk Ripper has a new gang design with heavier C-springs, thicker gang tubes and the largest gang bolt in the industry. The front disk gang angle is fixed at 18°. Laser Rip II points in a variety of sizes shatter the hardpan 8" to 15" deep. The rear disk gang can be set at 14° or 16°, and an optional three-position hydraulic rolling basket leaves a uniform soil surface. Available in 12'6", 17'6", 22'6" and 27'6" widths. For more information, visit a John Deere dealer or www.johndeere.com.

AGCO to Stop Making SpraCoupe

The final orders for SpraCoupe sprayers have been made and AGCO will stop manufacturing SpraCoupe self-propelled sprayers near the end of May 2013. The high cost of Tier 4 compliance and growing demand for larger-capacity sprayers factored into the decision to discontinue the brand, which comes in 400- and 700-gal. models. Parts will remain available for at least the next 15 years. The company will continue to make larger-size RoGator and TerraGator sprayer brands at its Jackson, Minn., facility.

Made for Mud

skid steer mud tire

For skid steers operated in mud and manure, Alliance Tire Group has designed the Galaxy Muddy Buddy. This tire features super-deep tread, shallow lug angle and sharp shoulders for improved traction in slick and slushy surfaces. With its lugs’ sharp shoulders, the Galaxy Muddy Buddy provides greater grip on soft and uneven surfaces. Overall, the tires are built for high-durability and longer service life. The Muddy Buddy is available in the most popular sizes for skid-steer tires: 10-16.5 and 12-16.5. For more information, visit www.atgtire.com.

Exact Measure of Force

down pressure control

For accurate down-pressure control and to ensure proper seed depth, Dawn Equipment introduces the 2013 RFX Hydraulic Planter Down Pressure System. This latest RFX model incorporates a largerbore diameter capable of providing greater force at lower hydraulic pressure. The system provides down-pressure control for the planter row unit with an exact measure of force in fluctuating soil conditions. The actuator offers greater internal damping, minimizing high-frequency vibration of the planter row unit. The intergraded accumulator eliminates spikes in line pressure due to individual row units encountering in-field obstacles. The system features a flexible mounting system for John Deere, Kinze and CNH planter row units. For more information, visit www.dawnequipment.com.
