Nearly 20% of the Rice Crop is Planted

Rice planting is on pace this year, with 17% of the crop in the ground -- only a few percentage points behind of the five-year average.

Farmers in the top six rice-producting states are on schedule this spring. As of this week, 17% is planted, which is slightly behind the 20% five-year average for this time. In Louisiana and Texas, around 75% of the crop is planted.

Nearly 10% of the rice crop is emerged. The crop is the furthest along in Louisiana and Texas, where around 40% of the crop has emerged.
