Pete's Pick of the Week: Farmer Turns $0 Deal Into $28,500 Combine

A Rushville, Ill., farmer found no takers at his asking price of $12,500 for a 1982 John Deere 6620 combine with 2,694 hours and two heads -- a 1990 John Deere 918 grain head and a John Deere 444 corn head.

So he decided to have a small farm retirement auction Saturday, Nov. 23. The result? He came out with $38,100, including $28,500 for his 1982 combine. Wow!

Right Bill, he would have been much better off to simply lower his asking price to 10,000 or better yet just called a salvage yard.

Why would anyone in their right mind pay that much for a 35 year old combine. You could get a nice 9500 for that price and 10 times the machine.
