The reintroduced Ontrac product line gives growers several options for monitoring their irrigation systems from a remote location, says Reinke Manufacturing Company, Inc. Choices include satellite and radio.

Farmers can now control their center-pivot irrigation systems with the help of a radio-based product from Reinke Manufacturing Company, Inc., the company announced. The reintroduction of its Ontrac product line marks an ongoing effort to act on grower feedback, it says.

"Listening to the needs of growers from across the U.S. and around the world is an important part of our research and development process at Reinke. We believe we’ve captured a solution for them with Ontrac," Reinke President Chris Roth says. "Ontrac is designed to provide a comfortable level of irrigation system remote management, and we are excited to reintroduce the ease of use technology, dependability and time saving attributes of this product line to our customers."

Previously, the manufacturer only offered satellite-based communication as part of Ontrac. The product line now comprises Ontrac Radio, Ontrac Satellite Plus and Ontrac Satellite, Reinke says, and it can be integrated with irrigation machinery from any manufacturer.

The radio system broadcasts from a base station such as a home computer, giving farmers secure access to their irrigation systems using web-enabled devices. Engineers from Reinke perform a communication-path study to ensure optimal system performance.

The satellite systems are intended for use in areas with poor cell reception and offer varying degrees of control options. The most advanced option is Ontrac Satellite Plus.

Benefits of remote management products include the ability to view pivot locations, control irrigation machines and track pressure, Reinke says.
