Michelin Ultraflex Technology Used on John Deere Tractors

December 14, 2009

John Deere customers now have the option to equip their new 7030 Series large-frame, 8R Series and 9030 Series tractors with the latest technology in agricultural radial tires, giving farmers the ability to capture the benefits of heavier, high-horsepower tractors while also keeping soil compaction in check. Farmers can select Michelin Axiobib radials with Ultraflex Technology as a factory-installed option.

Today's high-horsepower tractors pack more weight, which can prove problematic for farmers concerned about soil compaction. The Michelin Axiobib radial tires use the Ultraflex Technology, which has been engineered to address this weight issue head on. Tires with Ultraflex Technology can operate at inflation pressures as much as 20 percent lower than standard radials, or carry up to 20 percent more load at the same inflation pressures as standard radials.

A characteristic of an agricultural tire is its ability to flex. A tire under load needs to be able to flex to maximize the contact patch and minimize soil compaction. The deflection zone, which determines how much a tire can flex, is the vertical space that runs roughly from the bead of the tire to the point where the sidewall joins the crown. The deflection zone in a Michelin Axiobib radial tire with Ultraflex Technology is greater than the deflection zone of a standard radial tire.

The Michelin Axiobib radial tire is now available as a factory-installed option on AGCO brand, Case IH, Challenger, Massey Ferguson and New Holland high-horsepower tractors in addition to John Deere. It's also available in the replacement market through Michelin Agricultural tire dealers.
