The roll-out of the 2 millionth tractor by manufacturer Mahindra is celebrated by Pawan Goenka, president of the company's automotive and farm equipment sectors, along with company employees and dignitaries.
Mahindra has announced the production of its 2 millionth tractor, which rolled off the production line on Feb. 27. The machine was produced at the company’s Kandivali plant in Mumbai, India.
The manufacturer of tractors ranging from 22 hp to 100 hp has doubled its global production in less than a decade. It produced its first 1 million tractors over a period of close to 40 years beginning in 1965. Mahindra is the fastest-growing tractor brand in North America, the company says.
"This is a time for us to challenge ourselves and continue building on Mahindra’s success," says Mani Iyer, president of Houston, Texas-based Mahindra USA. "By providing quality products and outstanding service to our customers, we have gained significant ground in North America and we are not done yet."
Globally, Mahindra became the No. 1-selling tractor brand in 2010. It is the only tractor manufacturer to have received both the Deming Application Prize and the Japan Quality Medal for excellence in Total Quality Management. The Mahindra Group, of which Mahindra USA is a part, is based in Mumbai, India. The company employs more than 155,000 people.
