Should We Share Harvest Info?

September 19, 2013

We've all been there.  As conversation this time of year centers around harvest, inevitably someone finally asks, "So how are yields?"  The question is generally met with a smirk or a grimace depending on the general outlook of the person being asked in combination with the number on the yield monitor.  But rarely is the question answered on the first asking.

AgriTalk host Mike Adams and U.S. Farm Report host John Phipps dug in to the mystery surrounding guarded harvest data on the AgriTalk radio show.  It opened a spirited debate on the value of farm data and the politeness of asking and answering the yield question.  Would you ask someone how much they make?  Are you making that same faux pas when you ask about yield?  Listen to the whole discussion below and let us know what you think.
