Here’s what farmers said were the top take-home lessons from our Feb. 11 event:
How to improve soil density and structure with a long-term fix for compaction
We’ll have to deal with compaction left from 2009 for several years
Coulter is for no-till
Have an N plan and how to use my N in different forms and application times for 2010
How much N needs to be down early
Microbes need ammonium and corn needs nitrate
Roots don’t grow to water or N they just grow
I knew I wanted to work residue behind the combine now I understand a lot more clearly why that’s so important
Sidedress a happy plant
Respect disease and awareness of disease in the future
