My wife, a school teacher by profession, homeschooled our kids from elementary school all the way through high school, the exception is that our youngest, now fifteen, who is going to the local high school. (Guess after twenty years she needed a break!)  One of the disadvantages (at least from the kid’s point of view) of home schooling, besides having me for a principal (yes,it’s true!) is that the kids, unlike their friends who attended public school, could never fake being sick in order to get out of going go to school. Good thing they didn’t try...
