Dear Mexican Avocado Farmers,
We are in the middle of the worst election cycle in recent history. It’s been, angry, hateful, scandalous and a series of lies. In one word, it’s been painful- particularly for someone living in a swing state like me. I’m sure you’ve heard all about that, considering one of our candidates wants you to pay for a wall between our two countries. That said, I’m confident America will band together and survive this political nightmare. However, I’m not sure we can survive football season without guacamole.
This week my husband and I went on our weekly date to our favorite local Mexican restaurant. As is my normal Monday routine, I ordered guacamole. You can imagine my disdain when I was told there aren’t any avocados in our ENTIRE rural Nevada town for the restaurant to purchase. After some research I discovered there’s a nationwide shortage and it’s mostly due to a dispute you’re having with your farmworkers.
Readers, you can watch more about that in the video below:
Now, there’s a rumor you’re at the table with your people trying to strike a deal, but I’m gonna need you to hurry up. I mean election season is almost over, thank the good Lord, but we have to survive football season until February. That will be a challenge without guacamole. Can you imagine a Superbowl Sunday without it?
